This unique, multicultural doll story set gives children the opportunity to learn about the Bangladeshi culture. It is a wonderful teaching aid for those involved in early childhood learning.
The set comprises two ragdolls depicting Mamun aged 15 and his sister, Shefali aged 13, a laminated photo of a Bangladeshi family, a laminated map of Bangladesh and a laminated story describing Maman's & Shefali's lives. All this in an organic cotton drawstring bag!
These dolls have been handmade by Fair Trade Organisation, Y.W.C.A. Craft Centre, Bangladesh. This centre gives skills training and work to 450 ladies, especially those who are uneducated and destitute. This centre creates a warm caring environment for the producers. Some of the services available to the producers are a 10% compulsory savings scheme, health care, subsidised medicines, interest free loans and the availability of free legal advice.
